Representative David Nelson has won respect as a legislator who puts results ahead of rhetoric.
His focus on fighting for the men and women serving in our Armed Forces here, on their families, and on the veterans who have fought for our country has produced successful legislation that won impressive bi-partisan support.
In 2021, Representative David Nelson authored the Military and Family Employment Act (HB 125) which extends our state’s employment preference for veterans to military spouses and the dependent children of service members killed in the line of duty. It passed the House by an overwhelming margin of 35 yeas to 2 nays.
And his House Joint Resolution 16, which gives long overdue recognition to the Hmong veterans of the Viet Nam War, passed unanimously.
Representative David Nelson uses time tested conservative values – individual liberty, personal responsibility, hard work and common sense – to tackle Alaska’s challenges. That’s why he’s fighting for:
- The restoration of the full statutory PFD based on its original formula and protecting the PFD in our State Constitution.
- A comprehensive fiscal plan that includes a tough new Constitutional spending cap.
- The requirement to put every measure to raise taxes or impose new taxes to a direct vote of the people.
- The promotion of a vibrant and opportunity driven economy that creates well-paying jobs for Alaskans.
